Taking a New Step

Sorry about Daniel's head being chopped off in the video.  Can I blame it on the couch?  It was the one holding the camera.
Joseph and I were so excited.  Maybe even more excited than him.  It is so neat to watch him learn new things.
It just looks so funny seeing my little boy walk.  Looking forward to the future!

Banana!!

I was at walmart yesterday checking out when Daniel started fussing. People nearby were amused as they saw what was going on; Daniel spotted the bananas. The clerk weighed them and asked if I wanted him to have one. So Daniel got his banana and kept himself entertained with it on the way home. He does have a different way of eating bananas than most of us though!

Baby Birds!

I was quite tickled that I got this on video! I love watching baby birds and the parents interacting. It looks like they have a pretty busy day finding enough worms for them and their babies. I also think it is pretty neat how the male and female(I assume..) both help with feeding the young'uns.

Daniel's First Haircut

Bro. Samons gave Joseph his first hair cut, so we thought it would be neat if Bro. Toney would give Daniel his first. They were on there way home, but stopped over here to cut his hair.
Daniel was asleep when they got here, so he had just woke up when he started cutting his hair. He sat and stared at Bro. Toney at first. He did pretty good, and then I guess enough was enough. He started crying. So, that is why he is red-eyed in the "after" picture.

Joseph's Birthday

Joseph's birthday is really this Tuesday, the 6th, but we celebrated last Tuesday. I fixed sharba and bariks and made him a carrot cake. His mom brought over homemade ice cream. I was thinking that it was a lot of work for one day with a Daniel to take care of too, so I did some of it the day before. I cut up the meat, onions, and parsley for the soup, and made the barik filling the day before. So I ended up having plenty of time to get it done. I had time to do a little house work and take a walk too.
Decorating the cake went a lot better than the Valentine's cookies. (I didn't write about it, but I made sugar cookies and started decorating them. Daniel was fussing and my frosting was too thick. I had two decorating bags and five colors of icing. I ended up using most of the dough to make cookies with strawberry preserves for filling. They were actually pretty good, looked nice, and were much easier than decorating!) Daniel slept while I did most of the icing on the cake, so it was much more enjoyable for me this time. It was a carrot cake, so I used a cream cheese recipe from Mom. I added some pineapple juice to flavor it. Joseph and I both liked the icing. I did a basket weave on the side, and stars around the bottom, and squiggly stuff on the top edge. I had never done the basket weave before, so it was kinda rough. You could see some cake underneath the weave, and I didn't get my lettering very even either. But I had fun with it anyway.

Strawberries!!!

(pic 1)Strawberries make a pretty good pacifier/entertainer!

(pic 2)He ate almost the whole thing. I was surprised!

(pic 4)Speaking of strawberries, always make sure the bottom of the blender is on tight.

Valentine's Day

We celebrated Valentine's Day a couple days late so that Grandma G. could baby sit Daniel for us. We went out to eat Mexican food and then came back and had chocolate and peanut butter fondue. My chocolate fondue burned a little because I left it in a little warmer crockpot, and it over did its self. But it was still okay. For dippers, we had angel food cake, strawberries, blueberries, marshmallows, and apples. I really liked the blueberries in the chocolate!
The dish that the strawberries and blueberries is in is from Mom. We had been having enough sweets, so I didn't want to buy candy to put in it. I thought the berries were pretty in there, and so I got to use it for Valentine's day after all!
I know it's not a very good picture of us. It's one of those reach-your-arm-out-and-snap pictures that look dumb, but it's better than nothing.

Could someone please tell me how to lay out my pages better? I just up loaded three pictures on that last post, and something happened to one of them(but I got it this time!). And I clicked for them to go to the left of the page and you see what happened. Ugly. But I don't care enough to re-upload them.

Daniel's Book

I decided to make a book using the same iron-ons that I used on his blanket. But the needle work takes too long, so I used fabric paint. Some of the pictures look dumb, but hey, he's only 7 months. He doesn't know the difference!
I wanted the crinkle sound that somes baby books have so found away to do it. I bought a bag of fresh spinach, and cut up the bag and sewed it in the cover. (Actually I think it was the spinach bags that gave me the idea of making a book.) Probably not the way
Fisher-Price does it, but it works!
He hasn't played with it much yet. I did give it to him to see what he'd do before it was finished, but I couldn't turn him loose with it because it had pins in it. Now the title is drying and it'll be done!

Daniel got his second tooth in yesterday. (one week after his first) At least that is when I've first noticed the teeth. We gave him some mashed up banana a couple of days ago. That was his first time to have solid food. He would get it in his mouth and then cough. But he kept eating more so I guess he kinda liked it. While we're talking about his first foods I'll tell this one too. Yesterday I gave him a "marshmallow treat" that was in a pretty wrapper. I thought he'd like playing with it and since it was in an air-tight package, what would it hurt? Yep, you're right. He now knows what chocolate taste like.
I'm quite pleased at all I got done yesterday. I swept, mopped, vacuumed(living room), made bread, made granola cereal, gave the bathrooms a quick cleaning, straighten the office, I guess that's about it. But it seemed like a lot written and crossed out on my marker board!
We caught our mouse. Peanut butter works great! It was nice that Joseph was home to dispose of the mouse. He took him out and threw him in the trash can(it was already dead) and then he realized that he had dropped the mouse into the recycling bin… Those poor people! Probably will think somebody did it on purpose.
